preacher. Hence the New Testament emphasis on the self discipline of
the pastor. 'Take heed to yourselves' was the admonition Paul
addressed to the presbyters of the Ephesian church, before adding
'and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit made you overseers'
(Acts 20.28). He wrote similarly to Timothy: take heed to yourself
