Involvement
in the global enterprise of following Christ always requires death in various
shapes and sizes. Some will literally be asked to die (Jn 12:24), while others
will be asked to die to selfishness, materialism, consumerism and all the other
enemies of the Jesus-exalting gospel. Dietrich Bonhoeffer's most famous
statement - "When Jesus calls a man, he bids him come and die" - urges us to
take courage for the sake of Christ's kingdom. - Paul
